Apple TV Screen Re-Sizing ...
Apple TV image does not fill the screen of my 55" TV. How do i 'stretch' the screen in order to fill it?, Is there a setting I'm missing, or is a limitation of Apple TV to restrict your ability to stretch the screen?

Thanks for your input Matthew! Still a bit puzzled, and all this is probably normal. I rented a movie last evening from Apple TV. Once it started playing, it resized to fit the screen. The entire screen displayed the movie. When I play from my iPad or iMac, it doesn't fill the screen. Perhaps its a limitation of the acquired movie itself. It says 640x480 in the movie dimensions area (where iPad displays length, size, etc). So I guess I need to find out if that's the largest size the iPad can display, thus the largest size of movies for the device, and is there something keeping 640x480 sized movies from stretching or being capable of reformatting to accommodate larger screens. I've tried using the format button on the TV remote to change screen size, but it does not do anything while Apple TV is operating.
Do others out here on this forum experience similar issues? Do 640x480 movies on your iPad resize to completely fill larger TV screens?

Sounds like a setting on your TV. Check the TV menus.
Mirroring the iPad screen will not fill the TV screen as the iPad screen dimensions a standard TV screen dimension. Using the Video app with Airlplay should fill the screen but only if the video content does not include empty parts (letterbox or pillarbox effect).
When I airplay a movie stored on my iPad is fills the screen. If there is anything that does not, due to the aspect ratio, I have the option of changing this within my TV settings.
Thanks Matthew!
Thanks!
I know this is an old thread but it was my first google result. I was experiencing the same issue and fixed it by turning OFF the "for to screen" option on my Samsung tv.
