Q: How do I unsubscribe from iTunes U?

I subscribed to a lecture, but after watching one, I realized it was wrong for me.

But I can't unsubscribe.  It's not like podcasts.  There's no option anywhere.

And now it automatically downloads a 500-800MB file every day which my Time Machine then backs up.  Eek!

At the bottom of the iTunes U page showing the items in your iTunes U library, select the "Settings" button just right of the subscribe button.  Use the dropdown menus to select Check for New Episodes: Manually and When new episodes are available: Do nothing.

I think it's a problem with the iTunes U app on my iPhone.  When the iPhone syncs, the file appears.  I'll try to fix it on my iPhone.

You can also select and delete the collection itself from iTunes or on your device.

Does not work permanently. They always re-apper again. I think I did it with iTunes on PC somehow but I cannot say what was the actual steps.

Hmm, if your device is subscribed to a collection that you've deleted from your PC then that might cause it to come back to life. If you have removed it from both devices it should stay gone.

I have the same problem. If I delete the lecture from iPad, it appears again after couple of minutes. I don't have the lecture in my iTunes.

    I think I tried everything:

    1. delete from iPad
    2. subscribe back to PC and then delete it from both iPad and PC
    3. subscribe back to PC and then delete it from PC and then iPad
    4. I even delete iTunes U and installed it back

Nothing helps. The lecture is there back as soon as I run iTunes U. It is really frustrating and I want to throw the iPad from my window.

Are you trying to delete a lecture from a course? iTunes U courses are mostly cloudy these days. You can download content to your device or stream it from the source. If you delete the local copy the link to the streaming version should pop back up.

Thank you for the quick answer. I am trying to delete the whole course. How to delete the mentioned link to the streaming version? I unsubscribed on PC and also on iPad and nothing. The course still appears back as soon as I close and open iTunes U on iPad. What are the recommended steps how to get rid of the course from iPad?

    Thank you

Open the course, click the gear icon at top right, turn off the subscription, go to library, tap Edit at top right, select the course, tap Delete top left.

That should do it. If not reset the device and try again.

In iTunes also remove the course or adjust sync settings next time you sync so that it isn't replicated to the device.

I am afrad it didn't help. It's back again. Maybe my iPad wants to tell me I should pass the course because it is useful for me

In iTunes, under iTunesU, there are two columns apart from the sidebar (if you have that on view). In the first column you will see the name of the course and in the right hand column, the names of the lectures. Select the course in the first column and drag it to the trash in the dock. Everything should delete and unsubscribe
