Printer network host is busy error message

I have an HP 4550 color laser jet printer on my network. It was working fine, then month or so ago, I started getting the error message:

"Network host 'ip address' is busy; will retry in 30 seconds...”. This is a different IP address than the printer.

I think this is an Apple software problem, but don't know what it is or how to fix it.

There is a forum on the HP site discussing the same problem that has had over 6100 hits, with no solutions.

Can anyone please help???? (P.S. I also have an HP 8500 CLJ printer on the same network that is working fine.)

After many hours of "troubleshooting," and trying to reconfigure every way possible, I was told to do a "Cold Reset" by holding the Go button and the Power OFF button at the same time. I continued holding the Go button and then Powered ON until the message Cold Reset appeared. This solved the problem.

This worked for me. I have an IMAC and wife has a laptop MacPro. Epson printer connected USB to IMAC and MacPro normally prints from local router network. Could not get MacPro to print.

On MacPro repaired disk permissions.

Delete printer.

Reset print preferences. Control key and click on empty printer add/delete box and select when it appears

Shut down Mac Pro

On IMAC, disconnect printer USB cable.

Connect cable to MacPro.

Start MacPro

Dialog box asked to install Epson software. Agree.

Test print.

Shut down MacPro

Reconnect printer cable to IMAC.

Insure print sharing is turned on

Start MacPro.

Delete printer and reset printer preferences as above

Add pinter. It should now appear. Select

Turn on shared printing

Test. Worked for me.
