Having problems with MCU PRO and Logic Pro 9.1?

Hey FOLKS.

I just bought a brand new MCU pro v.4.0.2. I have a fully updated version of Logic 9.1. And I have a Mac pro dual quadcore running osx 10.6.8.

I added the MCU pro to my midi devices and hook up USB from MCU Pro to my Mac Pro tower.I have chosen the Apple option (V*) on the controller.

NOW WHAT?

sometimes the trans port works? How do I navigate. Some buttons do not respond at all. The faders are not sensistive.

I went into controller set up in Prefs added Mackie logic control, got some more functions but not many.

The Mackie manuel is useless and short. Are we supposed to just figure this out on our own?

Its made for LOGic right? Plug and play?

I need direction please! the only trouble shooting Ive seen is new firmware updates. I have the newest I believe v4.0.2

Please help!

thanks

joseph

Boy, where to start... this thing aint easy thats fir sure and the "manual" really does blow. Curiously, there's very little real-world (youtube) user community video resources either.

I have pretty much the same configuartion as you FWIW.

*The MCU MUST be ON before you boot up Logic - thats completely essential.

*WHen you start LOgic, go to the control surfaces menu and click on the Mackie control to see all the parameters at left. If under the Drivers parameter it says XYZ 253 or some such, thats good. If not, turn off both MCU and logic and start again: MCU on, Logic on.

*From time to time, or from song to song, I've had to erase the 'panel' for the Mackie control in that same page of Logic/Control Surfaces. This can help too: erase it and using the top menu, let Logic recognise the MCU again and rebuild a new mixer map. Sometimes this fixes most all of the little connection quirks as its not immediately obvious which of the many Mackie Control options is the right one for this new generation MCU Pro and some of them flat out dont work. Let LOgic choose the right one, then Save the song, close LOgic, turn off MCU Pro, turn back on MCU, reboot Logic....
