Are you referring to the PassCode? The only option is to restore the iPad from iTunes. Reinstall the OS and Apps again.
There is no way to 'unlock' the iPad, without knowing the password. This would be a major security flaw otherwise, for all we know you could be a thief who has just stolen an iPad and now wants to know a way to unlock it. The only way of unlocking the iPad if you do not know the password is to restore it using iTunes. This will update the iPad (if possible depending on current iOS version), and wipe all contents of the iPad. Assuming you have a backup, which is not passcode protected, or you know the password, sucessfully restoring the iPad and restoring from backup will resync all your applications.
Hope this helps,
Regards.

Note, the following quotation from it...
If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.
JACOBFROMAUSTRALIA! I really need your help. I have an iPad2 but I legit forgot my password. I was half asleep when I put it on, then the next day I couldn't get into it! Like for Heaven sakes, I feel so dumb. I haven't been using it since because I can't plug it into the laptop I used to sync it because it was my friends and it BROKE. So now I wanted to ask you if you know a way I can get into my iPad without erasing everything. I backed it up too when I was half asleep. PLEASE???? Get back at me REAL soon! THANK YOU SO MUCH. ⚠

It would be a 4 digit passcode unless you made it more difficult. You'll have 10 tries to guess or more depending on how you set it up. If you synced with iCloud or iTunes after you wipe the device it would restore your previous informaiton based on your last sync. The only other hope is if you added any sort of corporate email, your IT department may be able to assist.

With all of your caveats and excuses, your post reads as if tyou have a stolen iPad, and you're trying to gain access. I'm just saying.
Turn off the device. Start iTunes. Hold down the Home button and then plug in the sync cable. iTunes will recognize the iPad is in recovery mode and you can Restore the iPad.
Note: This will wipe the iPad. If you have previously synced the iPad to the computer you're using now, you can restore it with a back up. If you haven't, you will not be able to retain any data on the iPad.
Note 2: If you wait to long to restore the iPad, it will reboot as normal with the passcode intact.
Finally I found the information I needed to fix a "locked" library iPad. Thanks a lot 🙂

Hi ThrustinJ,
I also have two disabled iPads that were blocked by the kids in their desperation to get it on.
I know the password, but the iPads were never synced to any iTunes, or iCloude.
I would like to get them on without loosing the data on them.
Is there any way to do that?
If I connect it for the first time to a Mac will it eventually let me try introduce the password first or will it wipe all data out?
I don't dare to try before I know for sure..
Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
Kinga
And I forgot to ask..
You mentiond "If you wait long enough.." Well, I know if you wait 1, 5, 10 minutes it will let you try again, but if the iPad is disabled "for good", saying "Disabled, connect to iTunes" will it still unlock ever? Or what exctly "If you wait long anough" means?
Thanks again...
The major security flaw is that anyone but the owner(s) of the original account(s) to which the device was registered can restore the device. If Apple can code a song to only play on a certain number of devices, they can most certainly program iTunes so that any device can ONLY be restored by the owner(s) [determined by the account(s) set up upon purchase]. You may be asking: "Well, what about when an owner wishes to sell a device?" Not a problem! Again, because YOU ARE THE OWNER, you will have no trouble restoring the device so that it is like new. Then the new owner registers his/her account and becomes the next only person who can then restore that device until s/he later resells it. Rinse and repeat.
This would effectively ELIMINATE theft of i-devices since everyone would *know* that such devices are bricks to all but the registered owner(s). There is no excuse for why Apple has not implemented this strategy.
I just meant that if you wait long enough, the recovery mode will restart and boot back into the iPad normally.
It shouldn't try to wipe the iPads just because somone entered the passcode too many times.
If you know the passcode, just enter it when it allows you too and then try to sync them to a comptuer.
