i've been looking through a ton of threads on here about this same issue and have tried all the recommendations.  nothing works.  my internet works perfectly and i'm not getting any error messages.

the progress bar at the top goes halfway, then stops, then goes back to an apple.

nothing happens at all.

i uninstalled itunes, reinstalled it, restored my computer to previous settings, etc.

nothing works.

any ideas?

i'm using windows 7

    Close your iTunes,

    Go to command Prompt -

(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".

    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt

In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in

    netsh winsock reset

    Hit "ENTER" key

    Restart your computer.

If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.

Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.

If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

I have the exact same problem that was described above, but and I have follow the netsh winsock reset suggestion and investigated the LSP issue as wiclee recommended, but to no effect.  Any further ideas?

thanks for the help wiclee.  the directions you gave didn't work, but the link you posted did!  i had to go and remove "PC Tools."  it is an anti-spyware.  removing that according to the instructions worked perfectly.  thanks again!

do what the link says to do.  it's not as easy with a PC, but you just have to find system information in your search bar under the windows icon, then follow the instructions.  there is a list of the top programs that prevent itunes from accessing the store.  just had to remove it and restart the computer is all.  good luck!
