When recording in Audacity with an external,usb mic, the internal mic also records the room noise. The only way to disable the internal mic is to plug a mini stereo audio plug into the audio port. That disables the internal mic. Is there another way?

When recording in Audacity with an external,usb mic, the internal mic is also picking up the voice as well as room noise. I disabled the internal mic by plugging in a mini stereo audio plug into the audio port. That disabled the internal mic. Is there another way to do this?
