I thought mail wasn't supposed to sync w/o Lion on Mac

I switched my iPhone and iPad over to iCloud. My Mac will use iCloud after I switch to Lion but not yet. I was told by tech support that my Mac will now function independently from my iOS devices until it's running Lion and I convert to iCloud. So why then is my mail still syncing between my iOS devices and my Mac? 😕

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.7)

You need to upgrade to Lion v10.7.2 on your Mac to enable iCloud to sync with your iPhone and iPad.

Apple - iCloud - Learn how to set up iCloud on all your devices

Make sure your Mac meets Lion's requirements:

  • Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
  • 2GB of memory
  • OSX v10.6.6 or later (V10.6.8 recommended)
  • 7GB of available spare

From here > Apple - OS X Lion - Technical specifications

If you upgrade to Lion then you can sync your contacts and calendars with your devices.
