How to find books created by iAuIthor in store?

I think the new textbooks and iAuthor are great. But I have noticed that most books that are enhanced and require iBooks 2.0 or later or created in iAuthor are not in the textbooks section of the store. This is confusing to me as if I am searching for some of these books with the advanced features like the flash cards and other interactive things, I don't know how I would search for those, they seem to be mixed with older type of interactive books.

I have found an enhanced books section, but that has older books that would work under iBooks 1.3 also. Is ther any way to find books that are the newly created ones that require iBooks 2.0 and use the iAuthor templates?

(Many ofnthe people I know also want to know this. It seems weird to me that Apple would have missed such an obvious thing.... )

iBook, iOS 5.0.1, iPad 2, iAuthor

iBooks Author...not iAuthor, thanks 🙂

The store is categorized by and serves, Apple.

The Books category includes 'Enhanced Books'...have you perused it yet? I think that is the area you have in mind. As for interactivity, I think iOS apps may provide more.

And as always, you can utilize the iBooks Author feedback menu and the Store feedback links if there is something you'd like to see different, etc.

Yes, and as I stated in my original post, I am aware of the enhanced books section, but there are many books in there from years ago that just have added video, or slide shows. This does not separate out the new books created by iBooks author, however ther are some newly created books using those templates mixed in here.

I have been able to find at least 6 books that were created with the new templates and as proof the requirements on the side of the page list iNooks 2.0 or later as a requirement. I noticed the flash card feature is enabled on the samples as well. So that is more proof. It just stinks that I have to waste valuable time going through each book one by one in the enhanced section to find these.

Unless we are all missing something obvious, it appears Apple really missed something here.

Frankly, I don't see any advantage to the user. This is a new world....with new facets, expectations and drivers.

Apple wants to hide such mechanics, I believe. Let the user focus on what interests them by topic.

If things need to sift and settle down and come into a particular focus, then time, natural selection and hard metrics available only to Apple can be trusted to eventually will do their job.

In the mean time, if you're not using all available feedback channels, you're not pitching in towards your own cause . 🙂

Hello Oberke, hi David Bourne,

I would even be glad to find the 'original' nine books that you refer to.

I only found one book with the tiltle "Life on Earth" by E.O. Wilson that is a real iBook created with iBook Author, as far as I understood.

I could also download this book to my Mac (1,1 GByte). I still have to connect my Mac to an iPad now to really read the book. This I will do next.

Could you be so kind and provide the list of the original 9 books here ? Maybe you even found more in the meantime.

I am a university professor in Germany, currently doing a study project with the aim to create a interactive eBook with iBook Author. We would urgently need more examples for the students to stimulate ideas for authoring and creation of such a new interactive multimedia textbook (if this is what these things might be called...).

Thanks for your cooperation.

I tried it and I didn't find my own multitouch book (Virtual GS). And it probably have a lot of ePub books in there too.

Surprise how many books uses the standard template cover page and just change the text! Talks about laziness!

It is really lazy in that you can drag any suitable image to the cover page and replace.

What, two seconds?

Delete all those other place holder elements too since they are often not needed.

Save or save as a new template if you want the same cover for a variety of books.
