iMovie '09 and 24p

if I do my editing in iMovie 09 at 24p then re-export the final product from QT Pro at 24fps, will I get the same result as if the entire workflow had been 24p?

I guess I could upgrade to iMovie 11...but, until then..can this method work for me?
