Q: do i need virus software on a mac?

I am a new convert to MAC (PC user no more) and have just one question.  Please don't laugh, but do I need any anti-virus software?

 

Any help qould be aprreciated.

iMac (27-inch Mid 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.2)

No, no anti-virus needed.

 

ClamVax is free and does not break things, if you feel you must.

 

Common sense prevails ... do not import/download suspicious things.

 

Avoid MacKeeper and MacDefender  because they break thigs an are difficult to remove.
