Have you used the same account to activate the device? This may have messed with iMessage.
originally yes. Then when icloud came out, we were pushed the same apps, and the texting thing happened, so created a separate itune acct and that fixed the problem. Some how my kids phone has her itune acct under settings, but when she goes to update apps, it asks for MY itune acct and password. Just went to setting and logged out of her itunes acct and logged back into her itunes acct, but still asking for my itunes acct info when updating or buying apps. Somehow I think this in connected with the problem. How do I change/correct?
When you launch the AppStore app, if you scroll down at the bottom you will see with which I'd you are logged in. Click on it and sign out so you can log in with a different one.
Also in preferences in message, receive at, you see the apple Id you're logged in with. Do the same if needed.
Hope this helps.
Thank you! Changing the account under preferences stopped the unwanted "sharing of texts". Still have the itune acct problem. Phone shows she is logged into her account, but when go to get/buy/update an app, it shows my account and asks for my password.... 😕
Hi
Are you sure the log out and in with the new id worked? Does it says in the store (either at the bottom of the store page or in the preferences > AppStore menu ) that you are logged in with the new id? I just tried to do it and it worked like a charm.
Glad the other problem is fixed though.
Yes, both places it shows she is logged into her own account. I stand corrected... only when asked to update apps does it now ask for my info. I am guessing it may be due to her purchasing those apps under my account, thus when asking to update, it goes back to the orignal account used?
That is correct. It uses the account used to purchase them to authorize the update. If the apps are free, the best thing would be to delete them and reinstall on the new account.
