How set up HP 1525 wireless printer using Linksys E-1000 router to enable printing from iPad2 and iPhone4s? ?

Can't get HP CP1525 wireless printer configured to work with iMac and enable printing from iPad2 and iPhone 4S. System is using a Linksys E-1000 wireless router with updated firmware. I suspect problem is with wireless router. Any suggestions?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.2), E-1000 Linksys wireless router

First lets establish that you are not connecting the printer to a USB port on your router! It can be connected by Ethernet or WiFi, and AirPrint should work.

One way to isolate the problem to your WiFi router, is to configure the printer's WiFi to host an Ad Hoc WiFi network. Connect your iPad or iPhone's WiFi directly to the printer's WiFi, and see if printing is enabled. You should be able to do the configuration from the printer's control panel, using something like a WiFi Setup Wizard. On my HP D110 AirPrint printer, I can specify a non-existent WiFi router name in the setup. When the name is not found, I get the option to set up a new network using that name, and one of the network choices is Ad Hoc.
