How to turn off file auto lock

How can I turn off the file auto lock feature? It is one of those things about Lion that is going to drive me nuts. Losing Save As is bad enough but to have to turn the computer that I want to unlock a file that I didn't lock evey time I want to change it is crazy. It is my file, my computer, and I would be trying to change it if I didn't want to! I rotate through 30 to 50 files evey couple of months and I don't want to deal with unlock every one of them every time. I swear the Mac is harder to use with each release of OSX.
