Q: new HD Content requires QuickTime (iTunes 10.5.3)

New HD content (released January 26-30, 2010) does not play in iTunes 10.5.3.

The message relates to this thread: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3772

the resolution states:

Resolution

With iTunes 10.5 or later, QuickTime is no longer included when iTunes  is installed. Although media content purchased or rented from the iTunes Store does not require QuickTime in order to play, you may have older media files which require QuickTime to already be installed in order to be played.

Is the resolution incorrect?  the media is less than 1 week old and purchased in the iTunes store.

Mac Mini OS X 10.7.2 (last one before the uni-body; all software is up to date)

The support article you refer to is for iTunes for Windows and is not applicable to Mac OS X. QuickTime is part of Mac OS X and is always installed, though with earier versions of Mac OS X it's possible to not have it current. That's not a factor if you have OS X 10.7.2.

I don't have a solution at this time, but I wanted to at least point out that the article wasn't applicable. Someone else here may have suggestions.

    Regards.
