I'm having the same problem. Just installed the newest Itunes. Totally different interface and it is TERRIBLE. Confusing, not intuitive. I plugged in my device and I can't find it, I can't even find an area where it should be. New tabs only show playlists at the left but no tab or area for devices. I've clicked every icon and button and tab I can find. Also there is no menus with "about" and other info. Also no option to print playlists and CD inserts. Am I being dense? Can someone help me?

I knew I shouldn't have updated iTunes! I am always reluctant to do it because I am afraid that what did happen this time will happen. Should have gone with my instincts.

I have a PC with Microsoft Windows 7 x64 Home Premium Edition Service Pack 1 (Build 7601).

Everything worked great until I UPDATED iTunes to 11.0.1.12. Once I did that my iPhone was no longer recognized by the computer or iTunes. I tried everything that I could find to do. I also updated my iPhone to the latest software to no avail.

I don't get any error messages. Nothing, nada. I tried the diagnostics in iTunes and just got the message that there was no iPod attached. I've checked the Device Manager to see if anything changes when I plug it in and nothing changes. The iPhone shows that it is charging so i know the cable works AND IT WAS WORKING BEFORE I DID THE UPDATE!

If your going to send out an update AT LEAST TEST IT FIRST!

Now, could someone from Apple help please?

Thanks!

Also, to johnc72, I happen to watch the video to see if there was something I was missing and IF the iPhone/iPod is found it puts a button in the upper right hand corner next to the iTunes Store button. Hope that helps.

Okay, I may have found the answer to the problem.

First I deleted everything in my Temp file that I could (You may not need to do this. I saw it in another article).

Then, I uninstalled all Apple products (iTunes, Bonjour, Apple Software Update,

Apple Application Support, Apple Mobile Device Support).

Next, I went to http://www.oldapps.com/itunes.php and picked version 10.7 for 64-bit Windows 7 and downloaded and installed this version of iTunes. Once it was installed I went to the Device Manager to see if Apple Mobile Device USB Driver was in Universal Serial Bus Controls and it was. That was the part that was missing from the new version of iTunes for me. One note here. When I tried to get into iTunes it told me it couldn't display the iTunes folder because it was for a newer version but never fear that didn't matter because of what I did next.

Next, I left the Device Manager up to keep an eye on the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver to see if it disappeared when I updated iTunes with the newest version. It didn't disappear this time so I was hoping that made the difference and it did!

I am now viewing my iPhone 4 in the new version of iTunes and everything seems to be working now. The button for the iPhone (and probably iPod) is in the upper right hand corner next to the iTunes Store button when the device is recognized.

I hope this helps. I've been working on this for about 8 hours now and finally found a workaround to get it to work for me and I hope it works for you!

Shame on you Apple!

Good Luck!
