I agree - I would also like this feature in the Mac App Store. I have a friend who just bought a MBA and I would like to gift her an app to get her started.

Oct 10, 2012 2:59 AM in response to cward22by ARI-Boy,I just googled to find out how to do this, and found this thread. It's insanely stupid that you can gift apps in the iTunes store, but not in the Mac App store. Ozlady's point is a perfect example of why this is such a dumb move by Apple.
My Mac at work is connected to my own personal iCloud account, which in turn is linked up with my own iTunes account. So any Mac Store apps I want to run on my Work Mac need to be purchased through my own personal iTunes account. The problem arises when I've identified a great app for business use that I don't want to personally pay for. If the app could be 'gifted' to me, the problem is solved!
