No, Thunderbolt was introduced on the mid 2011 iMacs. This is a physical port so any iMac prior to the mid 2011 iMacs would not have the port and no it cannot be retrofitted.
Without a thunderbolt port, how else can they be wired to each other, is basically what im asking.

How else can what be wired together? You have to give me more to work on I can't read your mind. 🙂
So no compatibility what so ever, or is it possible through the firewire port?
JonToro,
What are you referring to????? Compatiblitiy between what and what???????????????????? Once again I cannot read minds so please be specific when asking a question. All you asked in your initial post was whether a 7.1iMac was Thunderbolt enabled, I answered that question but you aren't providing any information.
Oh i thought all the information is visible to everyone. Its a iMac 7,1,
Intel Core 2 Duo from 2008.
I already told you that a 7.1 iMac does NOT have Thunderbolt and I also stated that it cannot be upgrade to add Thunderbolt. Do you have you have another question?
and i want to know if the thunderbolt display can be connected to my iMac for added working display room.
so they cant be connected via the firewire port either?
or the USB ports or any of the other ports?
i understood that its not possible through the thunderbolt port but what about any of the other ports.
Thank you for finally answering my question. No it WILL NOT connect to a Thunderbolt display, however Apple still has the 27" LED Display (virtually the same display as the Thunderbolt model) that your iMac will connect to. These displays are available in Apple's refurbished store. You can find them by going to:
http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/specialdeals/mac/displays
if you are in the USA.
Nope, in Canada.
Im sorry, i thought Thunderbolt refered to the displays specifically, i didnt know it was an all new I/O transfer format. im not up to date on all that is apple.

Yes Thunderbolt refers to an I/O transfer format. You can have Thunderbolt equipped Macs, displays, and other peripherals such as external hard disks and I'm sure more will be coming.
