Q: Macbook Pro screen flicker and lock up

Macbook Pro 2.6, 4GB, 10.5.8

This has happened 3 times now.

When the screen saver is running, the screen will flicker, machine is completely locked-up, and needs to be forced to shut-down.

Then on restart I get the Apple icon center screen, spinning gear, and kernal panic window. That's all it will do.

It has done the same thing booted to an external drive.

Diskwarrior, Disk utility, hardware test, all show good.

Not sure if it's coincidence or not, but so far everytime I pull the battery then reinstall it works fine.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Mine did the same thing this morning. Although I didn't see the flicker. I came home and the computer screen was frozen on the screen saver. Had to hold the power button to turn it off.

Now the computer boots up slow as **** and is very sluggish.

Apple please advise and come up with a solution.

    AN update.

After a week the machine refused to boot to anything. Install disk, external, nothing.

Took it to the Genius Bar. NVIDIA graphics card failure. They are repairing it under the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT exchange/repair program.

    Thank you Apple.
