Regret updating to AirPort Utility 6.0

I have one Time Capsule connected to the Internet and one AirPort Express extending the network. The AirPort Express also shares the printer. Both devices were upgraded to 7.6.1

Using AirPort Utility 6.0 so far I noticed the following problems:

  • There is no printer configuration in the new AirPort Utility when editing the AirPort Express that IS sharing the printer, althought the printer still works.
  • BUG: the AirPort Express is connected using static IP configuration, but is reporting as connected using DHCP even after changing, restarting...
  • Didn't plug an USB external disk to the Time Capsule, but can't see the Archive option. Someone knows if it was wiped out in this version?
  • No logging.
  • No client monitor.

When I saw the new UI, my first impression was "ok, it looks like the iPhone/iPad AirPort Utility",but there's no reason to also limit its features!!!A limited set of features is acceptable in the mobile version, but not in the desktop!

Come on! How could someone release this version!? Is this sign of an Apple without Steve?

This is a bad update... I would really like to know what necessitated this. Everything was working fine before I installed it... after I instal it, NO MORE PRINTER! GREAT! I can't even add it back in because they took away the Printer options. Why would you eliminate that!?

Does anyone else have a network printer that shows up and is working? (Under "Disks" tab maybe?)

they are in the telephone book. I would call your internet provider or some one from Best Buy or Apple. You could also try:

When you open airport utiliyt 6.0 and option clicking on the version number of the firmware in the Airport device you are able to switch to a different version and you could even switch to version 7.6.0. Let me know if that fixes it.

Wow Apple, you have truly disappointed me now 😟. Where are your standards going ? Really pretty this, but a function and featurewise a disaster. Who needs this kind of "updates" ! And then leavin people clueless about it to boot. Where's the archiving function, among others? It's essential to have.

Please get version 6 up to par with 5.6 with all the features, I don't want to be keeping two Airport Utilities side-by-side!

Yea, tough to know when to update what. I lost all trust that Apple is looking out for it's users. I finally got my MBA onto the Internet using a bluetooth connection through my iMac after spending 3 days searching on forums for why the Airport wireless stopped working to get on the Internet but works fine to connect to my other Macs.

I am done with Apple marketing. As each device dies, I am returning to PCs. I am not about to part with hard earned money to pay for Apple tech repairs when their own updates are wreaking havoc. I am not a fan of the iCloud world, I want the control and connectivity that I had under 10.6's earliest days. If I have to spend so much time tinkering after updates I may as well go back to Linux. The Mac experience used to fun and entertaining, now it's just plain ol' work to keep it functioning.
