How to re-register a used iPhone 4s?

You first have to get the current owner to unregister it from their Apple ID. They need to do the following:

1. Go to: https://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do
2. Login with their Apple ID
3. Click on ">" to the right of the phone listing
4. Click "unregister"

Then you can register it to your Apple ID by going here: https://register.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/GlobaliReg.woa.

I too will want to register my 2nd hand 4S, so any help would be appreciated

I bought a used iPhone 4S and could not register it online. The original owner did not reply to my emails asking him to unregister it, so I was stuck. I called Apple technical dept and was told that registration really is not necessary and they could do nothing about it, but they knew I was worried that it might be stolen (although it was not reported). After I hung up I tried to register it online again and it worked. I was lucky because the person I spoke to was probably THE best - he was intelligent & well spoken!!!

There is no need to register it. The warranty follows the device, not the owner.
