What are you trying to do?

Saying reverse the image doesn't tell us enough.

Do you mean flip horizontally? You can't in iPhoto but you can in Preview.

Set up Preview or Xee as the external editor in iPhoto

    iP11advpref.PNG

and then Control (right) - click on the thumbnail and select Edit in external editor from the drop down menu:

    iP11rotatehide.PNG

Then flip the image and save.

I continue to not understand why such a basic function as mirror-reversing a photo is not part of iPhoto.  Am I misunderstanding iPhoto - is it merely a scrapbooking/photo album maintenance product rather than photo editing software?  And would Aperture handle mirror-flipping?

iPhoto is a Photo manager with some editing capabilities. It is designed to work with images from digital cameras and phones. As such, flipping is usually not required, as that is usually only required for scanned images or graphics arts purposes.

It's the "usually" (and "neglected to read instructions" or "tried to get a photo quickly") that got me looking for flipping - using the front camera on my phone *without* taking the time to go into settings and turn off mirror mode, and using Apple's Photo Booth without realizing I had to check the option to flip new photos.  In both cases I was stuck with reversed digital photos.  And since I started using photo software back in the day of scanned film photos/photos on CD from the processor - with Photoshop - I just assumed the Apple product would perform the same basic functions.

So, is there an Apple software product that is more sophisticated? Or is Photoshop for Mac the alternative?

Aperture is much more sophisticated. PSE is a better editor. Preview can reverse images. Sophisticated is pretty subjective

This was very easy and worked great!  Thank you.
