I'd like to share preference files from a few applications such as Adobe Suite apps and Quark with an identical Mac so I don't have to go through them twice. Is this possible? It was on my older Mac 10.4.

Preference files, yes, just copy them from your home Library (which is hidden by default, option-click on the Go menu in the Finder to locate it). If you're trying to copy the entire application, though, without reinstalling, that's not going to work with Adobe or Quark.

You'd better reinstall adobe or the like apps rather than just copying references and apps temselves.
