How do stop the applications from popping up on my screen every time I turn on my Mac? It's been happening ever since a upgraded from Leopard to Lion. Or it has to do with Evernote. Thanks.

I have done both suggestions unticking the "open log at log in dock" and unticking in system prefs, general, restore
The programmes are still opening on restart
how frustrating

When you shut down, uncheck the dialog that comes up when you shut down that tells it to reopen everything. Apple menu -> System preferences -> General also has this setting.
You may also have the application configured to open at login. Find it in the dock (you may need to start it to see it), ctrl click (right click on two button mouse), navigate up to 'Options' and untick the 'Open at Login'

I found this but how do I stop having to untick box every time, surly there is way to turn this tick off!!!!
all win7 give you the option to save any setting like this.
