Jan 31, 2012 2:22 PMby vea1083,My suggestion is to go to an Apple Store to have the Genius Bar check it. It may very well be a GPU failure, the Santa Rosa MacBooks were known for that.
To set up an appointment go to the Apple Retail website to find your closest store. Also, check this Apple KB article in regards to the Santa Rosa MacBook GPU failures.

Taking your Mac for repair is probably not going to make you happy. The cost of replacing anything may actually exceed the cost of a new Mac or at least a recent one on eBay.
So, before we give up, you need to try a few things, in case it's just a minor issue like borked software or a bad hard drive (which can be replaced quickly and cheaply).

Or even find your system disks and start up your mac (holding down the c key until it boots from the DVD).
