How do I use iPad as document camera

The iPad's camera is of quite low resolution - it's intended for video conferencing so it's only about 0.92 megapixels - so I don't think it well suited for being a document camera unless the documents will be images only, not text (or only very large text). If you really want to use it, though, there are stands like this one:

The iPad main camera shoots at 5mp. As such it produces totally adequate document images. I use Genius Scan to shoot document pics without a stand. These pics can be cropped, converted to PDF and transferred to other Apps such as GoodReader for storage and future reference. Dead easy!

Have you tried taking photos of documents with your iPad without any stand? I ask because the camera on an iPad is something like only .7 mp and not a very good camera from a resolution standpoint.

I just came across this product online. It's a stand that holds your ipad in any position, and looks very secure and sturdy.
