Not possible. Leopard 10.5.8 is as far as our G5 iMacs can go. All later versions of the OS only work on an Intel mac.
Following up on Mauritius1's question, I have the MacBook Pro Leopard 10.5.8. In the last couple of weeks, I am unable to view many videos in Flash or use Shutterfly and when I try to update Flash, it doesn't work and the message is I need 10.6 or greater. In addition, I can not get Chrome updates. You say I can't upgrade Leopard 10.5.8 to any of the subsequent versions - Snow Leopard, Lion, Mt. Lion???? Is there any possible fix/solution?
The iMacs in this forum were all made before 2006 and do not have the Intel processor that your MacBook Pro has. Any MacBook Pro can run Snow Leopard 10.6.X. You have to phone Apple at 1-800-MY-APPLE and order Snow Leopard that way. It's about US$20
Once you have Snow Leopard, further upgrades are purchased through teh App Store, which you get whe you update SL to 10.6.6 or later. Not all early MacBook Pros can run Lion or Mountain Lion. Lion requires a Core 2 Duo processor (not "Core Duo") of better; Mtn Lion has other requirments.
I recommend reposting in the MacBook Pro forums here:
Be sure to give the full specs on your MBP including processor type and speed, as that's the only way to find out how high you can take it. System Profiler in Applications > Utilities will give you a Model Identifier code that is critical to nailing down your specs.

Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
The OS 10.6 Snow Leopard install DVD is available for $19.99 from the Apple Store:
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
and in the UK:
http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
but nobody knows for how long it will be available.
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard.
You should now see the App Store icon, and you now need to set up your account:

To use iCloud you have to upgrade at least to Lion, but some functions are only available in Mountain Lion:

You can also purchase the code to use to download Lion (Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM, running the latest version of Snow Leopard), or you can purchase Mountain Lion from the App Store - if you can run that:
