G4 RAM vs. G5

I was wondering if the RAM in old G4 can be used in my new G5. Why/why not?

The new G5 (dual core) uses DDR2 RAM. Completely different from the RAM in any G4, they won't even fit in the same slot.

Also old G5 RAM (non-dual core) won't work in the new machines.
