I have an 80gb classic ipod that is stuck in a restore loop of death. using it with windows xp with all the current updates of itunes

my problem is when ever i connect my device i get a message "iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes." I click "ok," then click "Restore" in the Summary tab"

i have done restore but after few seconds of restarts i faced the same problem again.

  1. iPod Hardisk is a high drain device, so for a Restore to be completed successfully, your battery must be fully charge, before you start the Restore. (pulg it in for at least 2 hours before you start the Restore)
  2. Only High Power USB2.0 port supplies sufficient currrnt for the Restore, so don't connect any other USB devices or use any USB hub during the Restore, if you are using a notebook, identify which port is a High Power USB2.0 port, (normally only one port, while the other is shared internally with other I/O devices like bluetoorh, infraRed and built-in camera.

So if you are sure of tthe above, read this Apple Support Article.

As you read the earlier post, there may need to change the iPod drive letter.

Good Luck!
