My iPhone 4S just randomly stopped working as well. One minute I was making a call, and the next thing I know, it's shut off and won't respond to any combination of button pressing, or activate when it's plugged in. Nothing.

what have you done as a solution?

Mine just did the exact same thing today! I could not get it to turn on even after holding the home and lock buttons. I just sent it off to Apple. I've had the phone since October 9. Any ideas?
