Why don't i have any shortcuts, e.g. ctrl cmd for superscript does not work

Trying to write a chemistry worksheet in pages, however needing to use both subscript and superscript regularly is hampered as I can't set a button for it like in word, and the supposed shortcuts don't work. There also seems no way to set a new shortcut, it requiring a menu command. Please help!

Shortcuts described in menu items may be 'cumbersome'..

For keys wearing a single symbol, Select All for instance, the need to press the shift key is displayed : ⇧⌘A

For keys wear two symbols, they don't display the shift key symbol but only the character requiring it. It's the case for + which is issued when we press shift and the key (+/=).

So, on a French keyboard, superscript is obtained with : control & command & shift & (+/=)

and subscript with control & command & (_/-)
