Hi.
I just had it where my key clicks and lock sound/alerts disappeared on my iPad 2. Went to the genius bar and they did a reset all settings which seemd to work where the click came back. Shortly after, the key clicks started getting quieter and I could not increase them even when moving the volume key up and down. I poked around and just discovered that there is a sound setting whereby you need to set the slider to 'on' so that when you adjust the volume key, your sounds (clicks and alerts) will adjust too.
Go to setting>general>sounds>change with buttons>slide this to 'on'
Your sounds will now adjust with your volume switch.
Hope this helps.

If the volume is turned up - you may have system sounds muted - or you may have the sound turned off for the keyboard. Go to Settings>General>Sounds>Keyboard and make sure it's on.
If that wasn't it - read this.
If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.
This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.
Settings>general>sounds
Make sure that keyboards clicks slider is set to ON. Also make sure that the volume slider is not on minimum.
Good luck :-)
Go to Settings > General > Sounds and make sure that Keyboard Clicks is ON.
What volume level do you have the sound set to?
Crikey! So old! What's it like? Thank goodness I'm only 66 and a quarter. (The quarters count when you're this young)
If the sound is all the way up - the keyboard clicks should be very noticeable.
This may not help, but it will not hurt. Try a reset.
Hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons and let it start up.
I'm sure it's not your hearing:)
You may want to try what the genius bar had me do at first which is to go to settings>general>reset>reset all settings.
This will not erase any of your data but you will have to key in your wifi password again to get going. Once that is done, you should hear the clicks the way they were. If still faint, make sure of what I said before about that slider being on.
Good Luck!
Thanks. I have already done that but the sound is very faint. I have a 4 day old iPad 2
Tks
All the way up. Maybe I am just losing my hearing :-) Tks
Thanks a million. I had the slider on but I think it is my hearing.....I am 69!!! :-)
Hi Budddie.I checked out everything like that of rebooting & side switch but in vain. For some reason I'm no longer getting any tone/sound when I touch an app/icon on my IPad
Hmmmmmmmmm..............................Keyboards click is set to ON already but the thing is that I am not getting 'Click' sound when I touch an icon or app.
Go toe settings general sounds then set the slider to full and ensure the change with buttons feature is off. Try it now
