hp laserjet 3050 10.7

Hi guys,

I have just bought an iMac 21.5 with the 10.7 and have a HP Laserjet 3050. I just plug the USB cable and was able to print, but the scan and fax utilities are not anymore.

Waht can I do?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.2), HP Laserjet 3050 (Multifunctional)

HP has only provided Apple Update with a basic Printer Driver for this Model of Printer for Lion. The original HP Software that came with your Printer is NO longer supported with LION. HP told me they may eventually update THEIR software, or may not. In the meantime they direct people who need to PRINT & SCAN to Apple's very basic "PRINT & SCAN" utility in System Preferences:

  1. Click the Apple menu (User uploaded file ), and then click System Preferences .
  2. Click Print & Scan (User uploaded file ).
  3. Click Scan , and then click Open Scanner .
  4. Click Show Details . The details of the scan display, including options to modify scan settings such as output type.Figure 2: Example of the Show Details scanning screenUser uploaded file
  5. Change any settings as necessary, and then click Scan .

Hope this helps 🙂

According to the HP Driver Support Website their is no HP Scan Driver support for the "Laserjet 3050" model using the Lion version of OS X, I'm sorry to say:

Products with NO scan, print-only support from ASU

The following older products have print-only support with no scan software in Lion:

  • HP Color LaserJet 2800, 2820 and 2840 All-in-One Printer series
  • HP LaserJet M1120 and M1319 Multifunction Printer series
  • HP LaserJet 1220 All-in-One Printer series
  • HP LaserJet 3015, 3020, and 3030 All-in-One Printer series
  • HP LaserJet 3050, 3052, and 3055 All-in-One Printer series
  • HP LaserJet 3200 All-in-One Printer series
  • HP LaserJet 3300, 3310, 3320, and 3330 Multifunction Printer series
  • HP LaserJet 3380, 3390, and 3392 All-in-One Printer series

If you have one of these products, use Apple Software Update (ASU) to obtain print-only functionality in Lion. You will need to use the control panel to scan.

Hope this helps 🙂

@ Radiation Mac Thanks, but your screengrab pertains to the Deskjet 3050 while the question is about the Laserjet 3050. I have a problem with my Laserjet 3050 and a mid2011 13" MBA running 10.7.3

I tried the Deskjet driver (just in case) but it doesn't work.

@ nruizg Did you find a solution that works that you can share? Thanks.

Thanks for any tips.
