Feb 2, 2012 6:17 PM in response to Carlo TDby cycleboy,After updating to 7.6.1 on my AE last night, tonight my entire network is dead. Can't even get AU to revert back to 7.6! AU cant configure it at all. I'm po'd right now and typing this via 3G.

Feb 2, 2012 6:35 PM in response to cycleboyby Vijay S,Yep - I am having a crazy time trying to configure the extreme even after I managed to downgrade to 7.6. Neither 5.6 nor 6.0 can configure the Extreme. I get a timeout with a -6753 error. Not sure whats going on...

Feb 2, 2012 6:49 PM in response to Vijay Sby cycleboy,I've gotten the -6753 error too. Can't seem to revert, get 7.6.1 to work, or anything that prevents my dropping f bombs.

Feb 2, 2012 7:06 PM in response to cycleboyby Carlo TD,reset your primary router preferably by a soft reset (meaning using AU6.0 located in your utility folder). or do a hard reset by putting a pen to the pin whole in eht back of it till the front light starts to blink, then use airport utility to reset the router. remember it takes a few moments for the machine to register what it needs to do.
work on one router at a time... work on the primary one and the rest will just work. (using airport utility 6.0)

Feb 2, 2012 7:55 PM in response to Carlo TDby cycleboy,I was getting nowhere with this. I have a single Extreme and had tried soft resets, hard resets, practically everything but turning off the main power to the house or explosives!
Found a link to downgrade firmware using 3G on my phone and followed the process to go back to 7.6 and here I am posting this from the wireless network again. I've dropped a few more f bombs, but now will locate a beer and be happy I am in business again!
I will not be updating to 7.6.1 anytime soon! I wonder if the issue is that I am on Snow Leopard and not Lion? If so though, why does Apple still send the auto update with no info about that issue?
Here's the link (my Extreme is the older square one, but the process is nearly the same):

FYI - I don't have AU 6.0, I have 5.5.3 and of course with the network down I couldn't exactly update that either!

Feb 2, 2012 8:08 PM in response to Williasmby Carlo TD,well if anyof you want, you could get me on ichat. My email is in my profile, I might be able to help some... of course if you have already given up, reverted back, messed up your computer even more than before... then you have to go to an apple store. I am not sure what else to say.
or reinstall your OS

Feb 3, 2012 3:50 AM in response to Carlo TDby DHRTV,Using my time capsule as primary router instead of the airport extreme was the only solution that kept my internet connection alive. Now I wonder what's going on with the airport extreme..

Feb 3, 2012 11:25 AM in response to DHRTVby DHRTV,Was only wishful thinking, hardly internet connection,...

Feb 3, 2012 11:35 AM in response to DHRTVby Carlo TD,your time capsule is suppose to be your primary router. I am online.

Feb 3, 2012 12:54 PM in response to Williasmby vfr800a8,I have a Time Capsule and 2 Airport Exspresses; the update to AU6 and firmware 7.6.1 trashed my network. I started again but had to change my config!
Working now but the setup isdifferent from my previous one. I'm having major problems with DHCP so have reverted to static IP's.

Feb 3, 2012 1:20 PM in response to Carlo TDby DHRTV,Internet connection keeps dropping every minute. Everything worked fine until update AU6 and firmware 7.6.1. No wireless issues, only teh internet connection.

Feb 3, 2012 6:52 PM in response to vfr800a8by Vijay S,I finally got my Extreme and TC to both work, but like you I have a diffrent setup than before. I have them comfigured with separate SSIDs instead. Extending the network caused problems for some reason. The Extreme is on 7.6.1 and TC is 7.6. I am not going to touch a thing.

Feb 4, 2012 4:54 AM in response to Williasmby SteveS19,Sorry if this sounds like a "Me Too" message - but, after the firmware upgrade (7.6.1) and the AU upgrade to 6.0, virtually everything stopped working -- and I have a complicated set up :-( [Old house, thick walls, slowish ADSL broadband]. I have 3 Airport Expresses (driving speakers and printer; two time capsules (backups and one router) and one Airport Extreme (driving a printer). They were all set to act as WDS to extend the network from the first TC (which connects to the Internet via a third party ADSL router (BT HomeHub in the UK).
I upgraded firmware for all the Airport devices; set the channels to be the same. Now the odd thing: I have an older iMac (10.6.8, running AU 5.5.3) which happily sees all the Airport devices and connects at the same speeds as previously. I also have a newer iMac, upgraded to Lion 10.7.3 running AU 6.0. It can't see any Airport devices (despite hard resetting them all) - and can only establish a weak Internet connection to the third party hub, which drops out continually. My wife also runs a MacBook Pro - which was running AU 5.5.3 aand Lion 10.7.3 -- and had no problems connecting via the home WDS at similar speeds as before. Until I upgraded her MacBook to AU 6.0 - whereupon it has developed the same problems -- AU cannot see the Airport devices and her Internet connection is only via the Hub (at Transmit rates below 20 :-( ).
So my "finger of suspicion" falls on AU 6.0. I will reset everything back to factory settings today; rebuild the WDS network and hope that works. If it doesn't, I'll revert to 7.6 -- and try to find a way to reinstall AU 5.5.3 on the Lion machines. . . . Very frustrating after what seemed to be a minor firmware update.

Feb 4, 2012 5:42 AM in response to SteveS19by Carlo TD,WDS, is very cumbersome and quite a pain in the neck. Just extend the network using airport utilty 6.0.
