Nano stuck in loop of on off?

My nano seems to be in a loop of turning on and off ,looping? First (apple icon appears with back light on) then (with apple icon still there) the back light goes off, then screen goes all black(as if it just turned off). This all just keeps happening in about a 2-3 second loop?

Things I've tried:
1)Reset with menu and center button. Several times...nothing
2)Plugging and unplugging usb and in different ports....nothing. Windows XP pro doesn't even recognize that something is plugged in.
Notes: 3 days ago all inforamtion disappeared off the nano? So I did a update and a restore. All that worked. I started loading songs in a day ago. All was working. Now all of a sudden ....THIS?

HELP anyone, HELP anything? Thank you so much for your time.

Well...... to follow up on my own post. I wiped everything out Itunes, Ipod and downloaded the lastest "restore" off apples web site. Then installed the orignal software from the cd that came with the Ipod (Ipod, Itunes). After installing was complete I tried to open Itunes and I got a Libary file ERROR that it was a newer one ? So I downloaded the lastest Itunes off Apples site and installed that. It now seems to be working ok!?

My conclusion of all this, Well it seemed to all have started when I ran the updater and installed the latest version for the Ipod? I won't do that again!!!

I'm currently running ver 1.0? No Problems! F.Y.I.

I am also having the same problem.

My iPod (20 GB click wheel), just runs constantly on and off. I can't restore b/c my pc doesn't recognize it either. The only thing I can do on the thing is get it into disk mode. If anyone has any info, PLEASE! let me know!
Been trying to get Apple on the phone, but no dice.

Thanks.

to answer the 1st post

sounds to me like you need to mess with the sleep option of the iPod.... menu> settings> sleep

the ipod does not turn on and off it actually puts itself into sleep and a deep sleep just as a computers hard drive would...

for the rest of you that are having trouble with your iPod being recognized by the computer.. try resetting the iPod while connected to the computer.. also if you have trouble resetting try putting it on a flat surface while pressing the combination to reset..
