Shutting off Pages auto numbering on a page?

I have an iMac - Lion - When I'm writing on Pages and making a list of things to be numbered, Pages want to automatically add the next number when I return to the next line of writing. How do I shut OFF that auto numbering function on a Pages page of text? Help, thanks!

No there is no way of hiding the paragraph symbol that I know of. It does no harm and it is useful to know where your real returns are.

It sounds like you are on Lion which has Auto-Save, so no Pages will always automatically save now.

The only way round that is to install OSX 10.6.8 Snow Leopard on your Mac and avoid Lion all together. That is what I am doing.

I wouldn't consider it 'giving Peter a hard time', R.J. Fruhulda sees one side of a conversation that you've taken ex community and Peter has replied to in this thread. She's puzzled by a comment that's a non-sequitor with respect to the discussion here, and asks Peter if he's posted to the wrong thread.

Looks like if anyone should be given a hard time on this it's R.J. Johnson, who took the conversation out of the community in the first place.

Conversations do go ex-forum at times, but the usual cause is a complex issue that, dealt with in the forum, would generate a many-page thread. Those tend to be dealt with one-to-one, then summarized in the forum.

Barry
