My ipod mini keeps just showing the Apple logo for a few days!!

My ipod mini keeps just showing the Apple logo for a few days, then i followed the solutions written in this website: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93651. The 4th step of the solutions is to "press and hold the Select and the Play/Pause buttons until the Disk Mode screen appears", that's the problem! I had pressed n held the buttons for a long time, but nth happens. can anybody here help me? URGENT!

To put the iPod into forced disk mode, this is what you should be doing.

Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons for at least 6 seconds until the Apple logo appears.
When the Apple logo appears, release the Menu and Select buttons and immediately press and hold the Select and the Play/Pause buttons until the Disk Mode screen appears.

Have you also seen this?

iPod shows only an Apple logo and doesn't start up.

the problem i'm having right now is that however long i press n hold the Select and the Play/Pause buttons, the screen keeps on showing the Apple logo
so what should i do?

As this article suggests http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61584 if you cannot get it into disk mode, it may need service.
