MSN Messenger icon

Hi, Every time I open MSN Messenger, a white icon (I think its called the disk image) appears on the desktop. Inside that, is the MSN application.

Is there a way of making MSN open without this appearing on the desktop?

Hi,

By chance, are you invoking MSN Messenger from a Dock icon? If so, the behavior you're seeing could result if you created the Dock icon by dragging the MSN Messenger icon from the disk image to the Dock. Once you've done this, the Dock icon will always associate with the copy of MSN Messenger in the disk image, not the copy that's in your Applications folder. Try dragging the MSN Messenger icon out of the Dock to delete it, and then drag the copy of the MSN Messenger application that's in your Applications folder to the Dock to create a new Dock icon. This should fix the problem. It's also necessary to do this whenever you download a new version of software; if you don't the Dock icon will continue to activate the older version.

Hope this helps,

Ken
