Same problem.  PhotoShop CS (PS 8) and other older PowerPC printer and scanner software running under Rosetta.

We are also facing this problem with Office 2004 : Word, Excel and PP, when you select Print in the File Menu, the dialog box does not appear on the screen while it seems to be somewhere else because you are unable to quit Word as the menu is greyed. Same under Excel except you can quit. The only turnaround I found is to select Preview and click in the Printer Icon. If you need to select a different printer than the default one, you have to change it in te System Prefs before printing.

Hope this helps and hope we will have a fix soon as I have around 80 machines installed in this configuration !

Thanks for doing that.  I appreciate not having to wonder if it might work.  Fortunately (for me), I just did a backup (bootable) on an external drive from which I can just restore the system for now.

I called Apple Support : they will do nothing about this security upgrade. They are aware that this update will destroy the old applications your company is using and ... that's all folks !!!!!

So, my company's future uprade will be to Windows 7 for the desktop and Linux Debian for servers. If you ever wonder what was the Apple Strategy for Businesses, you got it now !

I so hope that whoever told you that is misinformed... Can't believe they would not put any info on this in the pre-installation documents...

This is what I told them. And also that this was a Secutity update not one with new functionnalities. I talked to a Supervisor.

No sense in me contacting our local Apple people since I am in Croatia, they usually know less then I do about what is going on but if what you say is for real, I expect more than a few people to be upset in the graphics industry... I can't even image what it would cost your company to update 80 licenses to the current version... Not to mention Freehand MX which has no later version, so with this, they killed it on the spot.

I have to say, I'm an apple fan, but this is a cold shower.

Hint to anyone using older Filemaker versions, you can get it to launch if you put it among the Login items in the System Preferences. When the computer starts up it will open, and you can work, if you quit it, you won't be able to open it again until you restart...

non si può dis-installare la security update 2012-001?

non esiste un modo di tornare indietro?

Using Preps 5, program will launch and operate fine, but the Save dialog box does not appear, so I can't save projects or output files (after Security Update 2012-001 of course).

PhotoShop, Illustrator both crash.  We have 8 Apple/Mac products at home, and I have 2 more at work, so if Apple does not come up with a fix in A HURRY, I will be very disappointed with them and will have probably purchased my last Apple product. This update is just completely irresponsible - and inexcusable - of Apple.

AppleWorks will crash if you try to print after this security update is installed. If you have iWorks you can control-click on a AppleWorks file and choose to open it with a iWork application. Most will open, but the formatting is some times messed up.

Office 2004 can still print if you use the Print Preview and then click on the printer icon.

Rosetta seems to be the answer - it has been stoned. All the PPC apps I know and love and depend upon are now dead or crippled in my 2010 iMac.

The Snowl has been Lionised. Luckily for me, I still have a G5 Tiger-powered tower to spare and PPCs run over there jes' fine, but gee whiz Apple gals and guys, it would have been nice to have been warned.

Add AppleWorks and ScrapIt Pro to my dead PPC apps.
