Q: After the latest Security Update 2012-001 Server (Snow Leopard) my old Adobe Photoshop CS 8, Dreamweaver 8, and InDesign CS programs crash when I try to open or save a file.

The currently posted file fixed my Office 2004. According to the educate-it.org site they are also working on fixes for AppleWorks 6 and Adobe CS 2. If you use the contact link at the bottom of the site you can send them a message about your specific programs and see if they can make you a band-aid for them as well.

You're not the only one: same problem. Impossible to register, print, close any document from Apple works, Photoshor elements, Word etc... after uploading the last security file.

Send the computer to my apple store and asked for investigations. Gave them the adress of this forum

Problem all around. I am in France , Photoshop, appleworks, Word etc...all crashed after the fatal upload yesterday. 

I gave this afternoon  the adress of the forum to my apple store which doesn't looks like to be aware of the problem....

Hi Ca2, with your firts trick:

replace from an older backup before the update:

/System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/I mageIO.framework/Versions/A/

Now my system works. my problem was on an old software (the logo creator) probably used Rosetta.Thanks for your suggestion.

Although the RosettaFix worked for me without a restart, it looks like they recommend using Disk Utility after the patch install to Repair Permissions and then do a restart of the computer to make it work.

Others have had success after reinstalling Rosetta using Pacifist, again be sure to repair permissions and restart.

I didn't know what to do, so I reinstalled from my Time Machine 1-31 backup through the OS Snow Leopard disk. Didn't realize how long it would take though. It took about 3-4 hours.

That is good to hear. Been busy, but am about to run the new install off of Software Update.  here's hoping . .  .

I reinstalled system software and now can't open mail or iCal. I can print again though.

Apple has now released an updated version 1.1 of the Security Update 2012-001 (v.1.1) that resolves these issues.
