My Macbook Pro - 13" (Mid 2009) started reading "Service Battery" after I upgraded to Lion!!

I recently upgraded my system to Lion. I did not do a clean install.

This has caused two problems:

1. My laptop's performance has become a bit slower...
2. The Power status reads "Service Battery" ... istat reads my battery health to be 69 % ... it was 72% 24 hours before... :S and 273 Battery Cycles. I went through the website and it says batteries last upto 1000 cycles... but again when the status reads that... i most probably need to replace the battery...

Could anyone please help me ?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.2)
