Q: 10.7.3 - late 2011 iMac - update broke returning from sleep and connecting to wi-fi...

Installed the update and what wasn't a problem is now a problem.

The computer will not connect to wifi without me telling it to after coming out of sleep.  Was not an issue with 10.7.2.

Same way, I selected the dropdown menu but without clicking on it, and hit ⌘-shift-4 to drag a selection rectangle. No tricks here

I noticed the dropdown menu selection eventually times out though. If that's a problem I think Grab's timed screenshot option would be the one to use.

Give this a try, i have done this DNS settings on my iMac and it seems to be better crossing fingers..

It also could be a simple issue with the DNS settings your ISP is using. Macs can be sensitive to these, if you are not familiar with DNS setting please read MacWorlds DNS Troubleshooting article and then make the follow change:

    1. System preferences

    2. Network

    3. Click Advanced

    4. Click DNS tab

    5. Click + sign

    6. Add 208.67.222.222

    7. Click + sign

    8. Add 208.67.220.220

    9. Click OK.

    10. Exit System Preferences

    11. Try out your iMac and report what happened.

    Hi guys,

same happens here on my MBA 2011. It had no whatsoever problems before 10.7.3.  Now it just doesn't connect after wake-up.  Awesome.

10.7.3 said in its notes Airport Wifi fix included, well it might have fixed some but what about the rest of us, with our Wifi sleep problems ?

Looks like were just going to have to wait for Apple to get working on a Fix, i bet they have been inandated with complaints since this 10.7.3 update !

I'm utterly sick of Cr-Apple. Lion was no **** good. The update is no **** good. If I wanted a crap computer that didn't bloody work, I could have got a pc for a quarter of the price.

If you tap the power button it works fine and connects, but not from the mouse or keyboard. Its not perfect but it works for me for now.

Same problem here, mid-2010 iMac, everything fine with 10.7.2, not reconnecting to wifi after sleep with 10.7.3. Using a Time Capsule as the wifi network. Called AppleCare and ran through all the configs of the Capsule, problem is likely with 10.7.3 we agreed. No problems with my wife's macbook which is still on 10.7.2.

Thank you for the tip! I just tried it out a couple of times and it worked! Definitely better than nothing. Hopefully it keeps working until Apple fixes this!

Used that on a fresh install, problem still exsists for me sadly. It was ok for  a few times then just started failing again, all was fine in 10.7.2

You never said what machine your running ?

You will benafit from restoring back to 10.7.2 when you up and running again..

Go to system update and you will see a new Combined 10.7.3 update Build 11D50b .Its not the same as the Client Combo update and thats been pulled of apples servers.. It takes a short while to

download and its Apples Fix... my iMac 21.5 i5 2011 is fine now

I have already done that, hense 'fresh install' I am running a 21.5" i7 Mid 2011 iMac with 8GB Ram. I used the HD recovery feature to erase my hard drive and to redownload and clean install (still 10.7.2 as of yesterday) and ran the new software updater, the huge 1.34GB combo. It did not alas fix my wifi which as I said was fine in 10.7.2. I have version 11D50b but the wifi still acts the same as the old version, if I just use 10.7.2 it works fine.
