Feb 25, 2012 2:14 PM in response to vjelby Christopher Cochran, vjel - you say you're having connectivity problems with an Apple router. By chance, are you using a Time Capsule ? ... I'm using a Cisco/Linksys E2000 router with my iMac and other computers (Dell Windows system, Dell Ubuntu Linux system, iPad, and this iMac), and have had no problems. But, I'm seriously thinking of buying a 2TB Time Capsule so that I can back-up our systems automatically. I know no routers are perfect (same goes for computers); but my son has a Time Capsule, and loves it, and it just seems like it would be so advantageous to have a device that performs automatic back-ups ... Just wondering about its operability ...

Feb 25, 2012 6:10 PM in response to vjelby vjel,By the way, just got news of an Apple firm ware update for mid 2011 MacMini users, addressing network issues. I have some hope this will resolve the WiFi issues as well.

Feb 27, 2012 1:13 AM in response to billg310by tommi119,iMac 27" 2010, updated to 10.7.3, now wifi keeps dropping. Not a hardware issue, since WINDOWS 7 on the same machine works flawlessly. OSX side worked a-ok until 10.7.3. There never was an issue with sleep and wifi, and the sleep-fix does not seem to help with the basic problem of connections dropping.

what happens if you shutdown your Mac and restart, while making sure you un-check the marker at "Re-open windows when logging back in" ?
[ this will make sure you are doing a full reboot ]
do you have a stable WiFi/AirPort-connection now ?

what happens if you do a reinstall of the MacOSX 10.7.3 Combo Update ?
you can download it here :

what happens if you restart your Mac with all bluetooth preriferals shut down / disabled (like your keyboard and mouse) ?
[ try using both a USB-keyboard & -mouse (or USB-radiofrequency wireless ones), and/or do not switch your bluetooth mouse & keyboard back on (using the small ON//OFF-switch on the bottom) before your Mac has completely started up, so wait for re-establishment of the WiFi/AirPort-connection also before switching on any bluetooth periferal ]
do you have a stable WiFi/AirPort-connection using this procedure ?

what happens if if you startup in 'Rescue Mode' ?
[ by pressing the 'R'-key during startup ]
do you have a stable WiFi/AirPort-connection in 'Rescue Mode' ?
If so, read through this thread again and try either one of the .kext-replacement solutions suggested by various people (including myself)...
[ if you make sure you'll finally have the .kext-file installed from either 10.7.2 or 10.7.3, all of these solutions are quite similar ]
Good Luck !

Feb 27, 2012 4:42 PM in response to Toon.Bby freediverx01,Todays' update didn't work for me. Wifi still drops off and doesn't connect automatically after a reboot.
Appreciate the suggestions but unless I see a string of happy customers who solved the issue using one of these troubleshooting flows, I'm not wasting my time in vain. Gone through this too many times and I've lost all my patience.
Apple seems to be slipping lately on reliability and service. That's going to come back to haunt them if they don't make a course correction soon.

Feb 27, 2012 5:41 PM in response to freediverx01by freediverx01,OK, time for a retraction...
Called up AppleCare and problem solved in 10 minutes. Here's what was causing the issue for me and how I fixed it, in case it might help others as well...
- Go to Network Settings
- Click Advanced
- With the Wi-Fi tab selected, delete your network from the Preferrred Networks list
- Click the + button and re-add your network to the list
- Click OK
- Click Apply
- Re-test to see if network connection is now stable
Hope this helps! This thing was driving me crazy for the last few months.

Feb 27, 2012 5:56 PM in response to freediverx01by Christopher Cochran,freediverx01 - glad it's working, AND hope it KEEPS working. Naturally, suggest giving it a few days to see if the performance is steady. Otherwise, keep after them via Apple Tech Support and/or your nearest Apple Store. There's lots of competitors out there - they can't afford to produce garbage, and they know that !

Feb 28, 2012 1:24 AM in response to tommi119by tommi119,Someone mentioned DHCP lease expiration as a potential source of problems, so I changed my router configuration from 1h DHCP lease expiration to one week (9999h, longest allowed by Cisco EuroDOCSIS). Seems to work without interruptions now. YMMV

Mar 1, 2012 4:52 AM in response to freediverx01by Christopher Cochran,Well, I'm still having sporadic problems with network connectivity, even after downloading the patch for "WIFI wakeup". But this time, the network card doesn't connect automatically upon startup. I went ahead and deleted, reinstated, and applied my router address, using the network utility (system preferences), and we'll see if that has an effect. I really think, for some reason, that the network connection problem may be tied in some way with my Bluetooth connection for the wireless mouse and keyboard, which don't readily connect upon startup, either.
The network connects every time when the system "awakens", and again, the problem is sporadic - it doesn't misconnect upon every startup or restart.
I reported the problem back to the Apple Tech Support representative that I had been dealing with; hopefully, I'll hear-back from her.
There's little doubt in my mind that Lion is a "work in progress", as I experience "quirks" in its operation nearly every day. And I'm beginning to think that the relatively short time frame between Lion's advent and the introduction of Mountain Lion may be Apple's way of fixing the problems with Lion ... (???)

Mar 3, 2012 11:15 AM in response to billg310by alexwitter,After weeks of attempting nearly every fix that I could find on my late 2011 iMac. I can finally boot with wifi connected as well as wake from sleep without loosing connection, see below. (this is not the best solution for a laptop moving to multiple networks)
After a clean install with Lion, doing an auto update and then Wi-Fi update 1.0 i was still unable to stay connected to wifi.
but once I manually removed and added the network. All is good....a little tooo simple
Network Preferences > Advanced > Preferred Network
Select the network and remove it [-]
Manually add your wifi connection [+] (name, encryption type, everything)
Can finally forget about this until a real fix is released.

Mar 3, 2012 4:59 PM in response to alexwitterby Christopher Cochran, alexwitter - thanks for your input on this - but I did this already and it didn't help, in my particular case. I believe others have used, though, with some success.
For my case, I think Apple needs to generate another patch ... - or a new OS ...
Thanks again !
