Oct 4, 2012 1:56 PM in response to infinitejerryby varjak paw,Reformatting and erasing are equivalent terms in Mac OS X parlance. So the answer I gave back in February applies.

Do you mean "partition" the Time Capsule disk?
It is not possible to "partition" the Time Capsule disk....in a traditional sense....unless you first open up the Time Capsule, pull the drive from the package, install it in a separate enclosure, and connect it directly to your Mac and then use Disk Utility for the reformat operation.
Then, you have to reinstall the drive back in the Time Capsule.
In addition to a lot of work, this will of course void the warranty on the Time Capsule.
Definitely not recommended unless you do this type of thing on a regular basis.

Oct 4, 2012 8:29 PM in response to varjak pawby infinitejerry,I stand corrected. After doing a quick erase (I had to do it twice). The Time Capsule's disk error cleared and I was able to use it as a backup disk. No need to take it out and put it in an enclosure to partition. It's backing up 400GB as we speak.
