Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT

Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

Can I make it so Pages "asks me" if I want to save before closing?

Can I set Pages to ask me if I want to "save" a document before closing it? AppleWorks always used to ask me first before closing a document I was working on. Is there a way to get Pages to do this, too? Thanks.

Given the crap that's on TV I'm not overly impressed. Besides, you've no idea what my accomplishments are. As for yours it seems you're more impressed by them than I would be.

It was your rudeness that got us onto this diversion, so don't preach to me. Practice first. I tried to help you along but you only wished to argue (complain.) You're still complaining. Get over yourself.

Ha! Spoken like a true old professor who's used to trying to intimidate a bunch of kids in a classroom. It doesn't work with me. Seems like I struck a nerve. LOL And, yeah, PBS programming is so bad! Ha!

Actually, I think you would be impressed. The New York Times ain't too shabby when it comes to getting reviewed. Have a fine day, Mr. Chips.

I will read no more of the posts here. So long!

The fact that you worked upon this or that make no difference.

The apps delivered by Apple for Lion dropped Save As.

You will have to live with this scheme (which is not new, it's the one used in Next which was used as the basis for OS X) or leave OSX.

If you don't want to save your changes in the original document, there is a simple scheme :

Open the original

File >Duplicate

Close the original.

After that you may make every changess in the opened doc, they will not be saved in the original.

In fact they will not save in a file until you ask the app to do that.

I may be old, but I have no need to intimidate anyone. You haven't struck a nerve, and a lot of PBS programming is pretty bad. Besides, all a producer needs is money. That hires all the talent needed to make a production. I'd be more impressed were you an accomplished director or an actor. Someone with artistic skill. Why most of the Executive Producers today are just actors who can swing the title as part of contract negotiation.

Just how impressed you are with yourself doesn't seem to suggest I would be impressed, and it would take a lot to impress me. And, note, I haven't made any effort to promote my self-importance. I think that says a lot more about you.

The NYT may not be shabby, but I haven't read a review of anything you profess to have done. And, you have a fine day as well, Mr. Mitty. 🙂

Well, ain't you the show business expert!! LOL Yes, just get the money and it all falls together just like THAT.

Sorry to boast, but three times I came up with the idea, got the money, produced the show, road herd on every aspect of production and got it aired nationally in prime time. Opps...I brag! LOL

And it's easy for you to say PBS programming is so bad. Sure, like you've played in that league from The U of South Florida, right? You are intimidated because you're not used to people barking back at you. simple as that.

An oldie but a goodie:

Take care, grumpy guy!

Whoa, Grumpy. I never said PBS programming was bad. I said, "a lot of PBS programming is pretty bad." And, it is. Much of it filled with loud music, over-dramatization, repetitive clips, dialog filled with grammatical and syntactical errors (yes, I know that's from the writers, but then, ultimately, the producer is responsible,) and I'm just getting started.

A "good" piece of TV is not just a good idea. I'm hardly a show biz maven but I have an extensive literary and performing background. I know what's good, what isn't, and why.

FWIW, I saw the program about cerebral palsy. It was pretty good. Too bad they only mentioned your name at the very end of the review.

And, what would I learn from "It's Black Entertainment?" Would you learn humility? I think you need it. You keep touting yourself so much, RJ. I'd blow the horn of my achievements, but I'm sure mine are insignificant compared to yours.

Ciao, Falstaff! 😁

Hello

Sometimes we disagree but I don't know why I would stop him because I don't let him stop me 😉

My two cents.

Most of the time, reading carefully what Kappy write is useful.

You assume there is a Snow Leopard system to go back to. Mine came with Lion installed. And this is not a feature of Lion. It is a feature of Pages. No offense, but I have produced 5 national primetime TV specials. I'm not stupid, OK? And I wasn't complaining. If that's all you have to say, please don't repsond.

It is a feature of Lion, try Pages in Snow Leopard and you'll be delighted to discover that it is not present.

Since when did working in TV make 'not stupid' a given?

Can I make it so Pages "asks me" if I want to save before closing?
