Why do I get a "plug in failure" while trying to view some internet based charts such as MSN Money stock charts?

What plugin? What browser?
Is the plugin up to date?
Could be a problem with the web site itself.
Sometimes using a different browser might work. There's plenty to choose from (Firefox, Safari, OmniWeb, Chrome, Opera, etc.).
I using Safari... IDK what plug in - I am just viewing stock charts. The plug in failure message shows up on MSN Money and some other sites when I attempt to view the advanced charts,
I having trouble finding an advanced chart feature on that site. Could you provide a link?
Yes, Just log on to MSN Money.com select any stock under "Get Quote" then click on "Full page chart or select a time frame under the chart such as - 1Y, 3Y or 5Y.
The link below should take you there.
I have Silverlight installed but it is giving me an error: "Silverlight Preferences quit unexpectedly"
Current Silverlight versions is Silverlight 5 (5.0.61118.0)?
FWIW I have tht installed. As an experiment I removed Silverlight.plugin from my Internet Plug-Ins and launched Safari and went to that page you referenced above. While I didn't get any errors reported the format of the page was different than when I had the Silverlight.plugin installed.
I am not aware of any preferences Silverlight creates. Other than the plugin the only other thing the installer installs is a folder in /Library/Microsoft/Silverlight. There is a text file in there with the version number. So perhaps that the problem, i.e., make sure you have the correct version of Silverlight. Or you could just try reinstalling Silverlight for the heck of it.
Remember if you do (re)run the installer, like any other thing that installs an internet plugin, be sure to restart your browser.
Reinstalled Silverlight. Works as advertized now!!! Thanks
