Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...

Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...

Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)

Release the Buttons...

Hard to say exactly what could be the cause... but a simple Reset will Cure many ills...

The same thing keeps happening to my iPhone 4. Apple's customer service in Brazil ***** and it has been in and out of repair for the last 6 months they never fix it. I'm ******!

I'm having the same issue with my phone; started after an update. Anamusic's suggestion isn't helpful at all...ready the manual...too funny.

I'm have the same exact issue. I've restored my iphone and didn't restore from backup. So the phone has no data or settings carried over from backup. Same problem.

I brought it into the Genius Bar, after finally getting the attention of one of many stagnant employees I explained my issue and the steps I took to resolve. She shrugged her shoulders and said they would perform the same steps...restore.

I constantly turn off running apps and didn't restore or download any apps yet the problem persists. This all began after updating my phone....wish I could revert back to original OS....didn't have this issue then. I have had to make urgent calls only to find that the phone shut itself off and takes time to come back (home\power key).

Someone....please help....I'm starting to dislike my iphone because it's no longer reliable.

I have this exact same issue as well. The problem started after an update and restoring hasn't helped at all.

Exact same here...only Ihave already sent the phone to Apple care....I got a note saying my phone was fine and no problems at all were found - and that I should maybe see with te Apps! I bought the apps from thier store!!. When I re-install...the problem persisits. I am getting fed up. The phone is new...Apple should fix it OR at least tell me what I can do.

I gave up trying to fix it and got a new phone. As soon as the iPhone was disconnected from cell service the problem stop completely. I'm able to listen to music and use some apps without any problems.
