Volume Settings: mute.
Notifications: off.
Brand new iPad 2 with 16g.
Wifi on or off.
Beeps while in sleeping mode or awake.
Random, single chime. Anywhere from a few minutes to an hour in between.
While charging, or not.
At 20% - 100%.
Anyone have any idea what this is?
Since you do not have notifications turned on - I assume that it is not email notifications. Do you have any app - an alarm - a system app maybe - anything that could be running in the background that might be the cause of the beeping?
Yes I had the same thing, it turned out to be a clock I had downloaded from the app store.

FOund out that even with notifications off and volume on mute
SOunds override notifications off
SOunds override volume mute.
NOw if I can figure out why the iPad double capitalizes every sentence...
Are you using the Atomic browser on the iPad? If you are, as long as you identify the browser as iPad, Safari - it will double cap the letters like that every time you hit a return.
If it wasn't an app - what is causing the beeping?

AS I said mute and notifications off does not override sounds.
APparently sounds <> settings (mute) <> notifications.
You aren't answering any questions, and you're providing info that everyone pretty much already knows but doing it in a way that ..... well, never mind.
You got rid of the beep? By doing something in Settings > General > Sounds? What sound was it that popping up? The only obvious culprit would have been New Mail.
No it was not email.
There is a separate setting for sounds. After turning all of them off the iPad stopped beeping.
Unlikely it was email as I did not have the iPad configured for my email accts.
I broke down what I had tried before (notifications, volume settings) so other ppl who are experiencing is similar issues after trying the same suggested fixes would be able to hopefully resolve the beeping.
And why is it not double capitalizing now? Grrrrr.....
Many web browsers for the iPad will allow you to identify that browser as a desktop browser or as another completely different browser - for instance as the FireFox desktop web browser. In my experience, I have found that Atomic and Dolphin browsers - will double cap the first two letters of a sentence - after you hit return on the keyboard when identified as a particular browser.
These "identify as " features will typically be found in that particular browser's settings. That is what I was referring to in my post and I was trying to help you find the answer to the double caps problem.
I am looking at settings...is it under a sub-menu? I do not see anything that says "identify as."
What browser are you using? If you are using Safari - then the double caps were just some sort of quirk - there are no identify settings for Safari.
It could be a gmail app. Mine would go off and then a short time later the built in mail app would chime, but the gmail always beeped a little first
