Please help with Dell printer installation

I am hoping to get some help with my Dell printer to get it working with my Mac. I know that Dell is not compatible with Mac, so I have followed the advice of several others to install the corresponding Lexmark drivers. I have a Dell V305 and have installed drivers for Lexmark 3600-4600. This seems to have been successful, expect for I still cannot print. I am having two issues specifically, and I am hoping someone can help me get them resolved.

1. When I try to set everything up to print wirelessly, it seems as if the computer doesn't recognize that it is connected to the printer via USB. I have had some issues with this before having a Mac, but thought it was the Dell laptop's fault (so many issues with it....hence the purchase of a Mac!). I have even purchased a new USB for the printer, since I thought that had to be the issue...well the new one isn't getting me a better result either. I have followed all of the troubleshooting I can come up with for that, and am just wondering if anyone can tell me anything new.

2. When I try to print connected to the USB, the computer seems to recognize the printer, however, I get an error message "unable to read CUPS raster data." I have seen other threads about this issue as well, but can't seem to come up with any great solutions other than installing printer updates, etc. Considering I have installed the most up-to-date driver available, I'm guessing that is not my issue, and I'm hoping someone has advice on this one, too.

I was really hoping to avoid purchasing another printer, since my Dell printer is a good one, and since it isn't very old...I just need to get it working with my Mac!!! Are all signs pointing to the fact that I will, in fact, need another printer?????

I really hope you can help....thanks!!!

You may be able to use an FX DocuPrint C525 A-AP v2.0 driver to get your Dell printer working. Then modify the CUPS settings for the printer options to pull from the tray (not the single feed default setting).

To modify your CUPS settings you need to type localhost:631 in your web browser and that should take you to the CUPS page to modify the printer.
