Feb 3, 2012 5:56 AM in response to limtcby Tom Gewecke,Back in 2010, the iBookstore Publisher User Guide said Chinese was not supported. But I suspect that could well have changed since then. Do you have a more recent copy?

Feb 3, 2012 7:18 AM in response to limtcby K T,Use iBooks Author Feedback.
But anyone that knows the publishing 'business' inside China knows it will be some time before digital comes around.

Feb 3, 2012 7:21 AM in response to K Tby limtc,Not just China, I can't publish a FREE book to any part in Asia. Not even Singapore (where people here speak English).
The list you gave shows that ALL stores supports FREE books. But I can't upload to any stores in Asia.

Feb 3, 2012 7:22 AM in response to Tom Geweckeby limtc,This seems to be the latest, which covered iBooks publishing. I didn't find anything related to Chinese.

Feb 3, 2012 7:25 AM in response to limtcby K T,It's an expanding effort by Apple. Are you asking what Apple is up against in certain regions...is that the question?

It doesn't mention any language restrictions at all, which you would think would be listed if there were any.

Feb 3, 2012 7:35 AM in response to K Tby limtc,No, I am asking why the list shows FREE books are available in all stores and yet I can't upload a FREE book to any of those stores (outside those 32 stores that supports paid books)?
I am just confused.

Feb 3, 2012 7:44 AM in response to limtcby Tom Gewecke,I don't see how anyone here could answer your question. All you can do is provide feedback to Apple asking to expand the choice of countries.

Feb 3, 2012 7:48 AM in response to limtcby K T,Keep in mind that as Apple expands the countries/territories it makes iBooks available into, we're all in the same boat.
'free' iBooks are new and evolving...you may want to wait for the program to grow.
You are free to put your content on your website in a more compatible format (PDF?) and let the world come to you if you like

Feb 3, 2012 8:06 AM in response to Tom Geweckeby limtc,Ya, at least we know the list is NOT right. Those stores might support FREE iBooks, but nobody can upload FREE books to those stores.
Make no sense to me.

You are confused again. Apple's list says absolutely nothing about whether anyone can upload anything anywhere. That is a totally separate issue from "Which types of items can I buy in my country?".

Feb 3, 2012 8:27 AM in response to Tom Geweckeby limtc,Of course I am confused.
What is the point that says a store can download FREE iBooks but yet does not allow people to upload FREE iBooks to that stores? These 2 are typically related. If a list says a store can sell FREE apps it should means a developer can upload FREE apps to that store, right?
I happened to stay in Singapore and saw the bookstore is having free books. I just caught by surprise that nobody can upload free books!

Sorry, I just would never assume that because I can get a free book at some store that I would automatically be allowed to put my own book in the same store for distribution. But it is pointless to argue the point here, let Apple know how you feel about it.

Feb 3, 2012 1:19 PM in response to limtcby Tom Gewecke,I've confirmed that the latest version of the iBookstore Publisher User Guide from last month has the same language exclusions as the one from 2010, i.e. Chinese is not supported. But I wonder if that is accurate -- are there really no Chinese language books in the iBookstore?
